Reading/Language Arts:

We will start reading the

biography Gertrude
Ederle: Americas Champion
Swimmer during literacy
time this week. We are
working on fact and opinion,
context clues, contractions,
monitoring our reading, re-
viewing generalizations and
reviewing multiple meaning
words. In our Writers
Workshop this week we will
write a creative narrative
based on the book My
Teachers Secret Life by
Stephen Krensky. The stu-
dents will work on their
brainstorming web, we will
edit and then they will
work on their final copy so
they can publish. We are
continuing to work on hav-
ing a beginning, middle, and
ending to our stories as
well as staying on topic and
using descriptive words.
Math:
We will begin Topics 10 &
11 on Tuesday. These
chapters are on solids and
shapes as well as congru-
ence and symmetry.
Science:
We will be studying land
forms and erosion. At the
end of this unit we will
make our own volcanos.
We will also incorporate
our health chapter on
Ourselves and Others.
Social Studies:
We will continue with goods
and services as well as look-
ing at community resources.

We are reading Little
House in the Big Woods for
our story time.
