INNOVATE ALERT AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT
INTRODUCTION
We are living in a very busy world. That because we do not want to late to business meeting
or bus or train time so most people tried to ignore the signal. It makes dangerous life. Statistic
shows that Wellington has one of the highest accident rate of the contry, with an average 100
people injured or killed crossing the streets. But, jaywalking is a nationwide problem with
nearly 1300 pedestrians hit a year (TVNZ). This show New Zealand has to change their
pedestrian signal to innovate signal.

3. BUSINESS SECTION
3.1 Vision
To bring innovation in vehicle and padestrian traffic management so reduce the padestrian
accidents.
3.2 Industry Analysis: Microchip IT industry
Industry: Microchip IT industry. The global Microchip industry relating to safety.
Force: High/Low: Justification:
Buyer power: Low In New Zealand, there is 1,101 traffic lights from
all around NZ, but mostly around larger cities and
towns(koordinates, 2009). There is only one
customer which is goverment. If goverment
wants to chage the traffic signal, goverment
needs to pay a lot of money for that innovate
pedestrian signal. Also there are few products in
the industry and limits choices to buyer.
Therefore buyer power is Low.

Supplier power: Low There is a lot of range of IT company available in
this industry, which this reduces the power of the
supplier that allows to have bargaining power
that will contribute to our competitive edge. For
example, pico technology have trigger
signal.(pico, 2014) and there is a lot of sensor Ltd
in Yellow page.
Threat of new entrants: Low Our uniqueness of product reduces the threat of
new entrants, this is because no one has
knowledge about our product for this market. But
as it gets known, which will increase of the
threats due to popularity of the product.
Threat of substitutes: Low There are not a lot to substitute. As this is very
unique that no one can follow this production.
Rivalry among existing
competitors:
Low There are competition in the industry but since
we have product that has unique characteristics
that meets our customers needs which will
eliminate its competition exist.
Overall attractiveness of the industry: since buyer power and supplier power is low which
will highly attract other business to enter in this industry. But threat of new entrants and
substitutes somehow exist and because our product characteristic they will reduced are
negative impact our business.
3.3 Customers and Thei r Needs
Our target customer is local government who has the need to reduce the car accident rates.
This is because in 2012, 12,122 people injured for car accident(Ministry of Transport,
2012). Every year the car accidents rate is increase so the local goverment needs to

decrease the car accidents rate by useing the product to notify padestrian not to cross the
road when they are not supposed to.
Once our product installed, it is simple to use and easy to access for padestrian which
provides public safety, which will fulfill customers needs and able to take more
responsibility.
3.4 The Product and Service
Our product allows safe and afficient monitoring system which allows people to be aware
that they are not suppose to cross the road.
This product will operate sensor that communicate with human movement on the traffic
light and when the padestrian try to cross the road on red sign, sensor will give a warning by
making its BEEP sound, which this will warn our padestrian.
3.5 Suppliers and Partners
Our business suppliers will be Samsung(techradar, 2013) and Microchip(Microchip,2014),
which will produce a microchip and develop its sensor that will be needed of our product.
Potential partners will be Ministry of Transport and New Zealand transport angency, which
they will give key information which needed for our business.(Ministry of Transport, 2012)
3.6 Strategy
Our company chosen focused High Cost as this product are targeted such as local goverment.
Also we are making our product to provide safty to the society but as there is limited
number of customers and unique, so therefore we are focusing on narrow market.
3.7 Value Chain Activity
Our key value chain activity is marketing and sales, this is because it is a new product in the
market so we need to advertise to increase in public awareness about negative impacts
which occurs ignoring traffic light. In addition, this would make our local goverment get
aware about our product in which will maintain customers. In long run, we can maintain

customers by get feedbacks which will enable competitive advantage and also solve resolve
problems when we have product.

MARKET CAMPAIGN PROCESS our product new and unique to this industry, marketing
process plays important role for representation about product and promoting it, so we need
suitable communication medium order to have effect with our market.

clear picture of our sales and our potential market environment. By having those data will
give a rough idea on how much money required and its minimal money input and planing
out which will enable us is the business to make preperation for the sales that will be made

CONCLUSION
Our business has comparative advantage compare with our competitives because we make
innovative and unique product so this will make our product attracting to our customer in
Microchip IT industry, this is because it will provide safe environment in our society and it is
accessable any where. Our potential stakeholders may want to invest our business as having
to provide safety for padestrian is very important as a lot of people die on the road. Which
this product would be a good solution for reducing the accidents rate per year and prevent
accidents that occurs due to this events in the future.
