Dear Reader,

I hope you have had a splendid time going through my website. I wonder if you
have noticed any changes in my perspective and writing style since my first essay on The
Kite Runner to my final essay The Effects of Gang Violence. Over the semester I have
been exposed and introduced to new ideas and writing techniques. These ideas and
writing techniques have developed my writing style and completely changed my
perspective as a reader and a student.
Before the semester began I had a basic idea on how to analyze a literary work,
but my premature skills cant compare to the level my Analyzation skills are at now. I
have realized that changing my perspective, or lens, with which I analyze the text with
can uncover under-lying ideas in the text. The lenses that are used to analyze texts
include: psychoanalytical, feminist, and post-colonial. Through the use of these lenses, I
have grown as a reader and a writer. I now have the ability to determine under-lying
ideas in the text or the ability to place my own ideas under the metaphoric surface. In my
introduction letter one would only find psychoanalytical aspects within the text. In my
last essay, The Effects of Gang Violence the reader is able to find aspects from multiple
perspectives.
This development in my writing style has had a positive affect on the
effectiveness of my writing. The ability to place under-lying ideas into your literary
work aids in the deeper meaning and development of the central idea of that literary
work. I have enjoyed my time this semester and look forward to keep progressing as a
reader, writer, and student.
Sincerely,
Samuel
