ACTIVITY 1
1. The teacher distributes one set of paper strips showing
fractions (10 pieces ) to each group of pupils.
2. Teacher asks each group to fold a piece of paper strip to show
the fraction.

e.g.

3. The pupils compare the size of the fraction with the other
paper strips.
4. Each group says out what they have got.

e.g. has the same size as

5. The teacher asks the pupils how they get the answer.
e.g. counting on the parts showing fractions
6. Repeat the activities with other fractions.

Note: The pupils have to record what they have found.

ACTIVITY 2

Pupils respond to the pictures shown by the teacher by saying out
the equivalent fractions

Plenary
1. Teacher shows a flash card showing fractions and ask the pupils to say out
the equivalent fractions.
1. Pupils give the answers of the equivalent fractions shown.
2. Teacher turns the back of the cards to show the answers and asks the pupils
to read aloud .
