This document contains 3 questions that analyze data using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Question 1 analyzes differences in perception of corporate ethics among 3 groups and finds a significant difference. Question 2 analyzes yield data from 4 types of fertilizers used in a study and finds the fertilizers differ significantly. Question 3 analyzes production data from 4 machines operated by 4 employees and finds both the machines and employees differ significantly in mean productivity.

A study investigated the perception of corporate ethical values
among individuals specializing in marketing. Using = 0.05 and following data (higher scores indicate higher ethical values), test for significant differences in perception among three groups.
The table F-value for (2,15) degrees of freedom at 5 % level of significance is 3.68. Since the calculated value of F cal is greater than the table value, therefore H 0 is rejected. Hence, we conclude that the perception among the entire three groups is not same.
Q. 2. An agriculture research organization wants to study the effect of four types of fertilizers on the yield of a crop. It divided the entire field into 24 plots of land and used fertilizer at random in 6 plots of land. Parts of the calculations are shown below: Source of Variation Sum of Squares Degrees of Freedom Mean Squares Test Statistics Fertilizers 2940 3 F cal = 5.99 Within Groups
Total 6212
(a) Fill in the blanks in the ANOVA Table. (b) Test at = 0.05, whether the fertilizers differ significantly.
Q. 3. The following table gives the number of units of production per day turned out by four different types of machines:
Employees Type of Machine M 1 M 2 M 3 M 4
E 1 40 36 45 30 E 2 38 42 50 41 E 3 36 30 48 35 E 4 46 47 52 44
Using ANOVA, (a) Test the hypothesis that the mean production is same for four machines. (b) Test the hypothesis that the employees do not differ with respect to mean productivity.
Given: The table F-value for (3,9) degrees of freedom at 5% level of significance is 3.86.
