Research Design

This research is a quantitative, non-experimental descriptive correlational

method that will assess the level of knowledge self-care management among Filipino
adults diagnosed with hypertension. Descriptive type of research is used to describe
characteristics of a population or phenomenon being studied (Shields &Rangarajan,
2013). The purpose of descriptive studies is to observe, describe and document aspects
of a situation (Polit& Beck, 2006).The researcher used this kind of study to obtain first
hand data from the respondents so as to formulate rational and sound conclusions and
recommendations for the study. On the other hand the correlational method explores
the interrelationship among variables of interest without any active intervention by the
researcher (Polit& Beck, 2006).
Study Site
The study will be conducted in a private tertiary university located on Edsa,
Caloocan City. The university is a pillar in health science and professional programs in
the Philippines. MCU is committed to do its share in improving the lives of people.
