Many new PCs and Laptops sold in recent years come with a very useful recovery

partition (sometimes called a restore partition or factory reset tool). Should your main
installation of Windows 7 stop workin! you can use this partition to "uickly restore your
laptop to the same state that it was when you first #ouht the computer.
Please note: this will remove any information/documents/files that are on the hard drive -
so it is usually used as a last resort.

need to read the manual to find out if your model comes with this feature and how to

Select a partition option and click ;e2t.

Dell Restore Partition:

When the =ell splash screen appears durin the computer startup process! press
and hold >Ctrl? and then press >)**?. (hen! release #oth keys at the same time.
'n the =ell PC -estore #y Symantec window! click -estore. &lternatively! press
>(a#? to hihliht -estore! and then press >$nter?.
Gateway Recovery Partition:
(urn on your computer! then press &lt@)*+ durin startup. Aateway -ecovery
Manaement opens.
Click on -estore system from factory default.
Click on ;e2t. Bour hard driveCs oriinal! factory<loaded contents are recovered.
(his process will take several minutes.
HP / Compaq System Recovery:
(urn on the comptuer and repeatedly press )*+ at the DP loo until the recovery
screen appears.
When the recovery screen appears! press ,;e2t, and then ,Bes, to perform a non<
destructive recovery. (o perform a destructive recovery! click ,&dvanced, and
then ,Bes,.
&fter the recovery is finished! the computer will re#oot.
Sony Recovery Partition:
(urn off your computer.
-estart your computer.
When the E&'5 loo appears on the computerFs screen! #riefly press the )*+ key
on the computer key#oard.
