This study examines the relationship between physical home sanitation and the occurrence of acute respiratory infections (ARI) in toddlers. The study was conducted in the Subdistrict Health Center area of Sukabumi Regency from October 2004 to July 2005. A case-control study design was used where cases were toddlers diagnosed with ARI and controls were randomly selected toddler respondents without ARI complaints who came to posyandu for immunization. The results showed that physical home sanitation was a risk factor associated with ARI in toddlers based on the analysis in Table 4.13. However, the study did not describe the risk factors and associations in detail from a biological perspective.
