Intended Learning Outcome:
With the use of visual materials, the Grade 4
pupils with at least 90% accuracy will:
a. identify the kinds of note and their
corresponding time values in a common
time signature based on the song
presented;
b. translate and interpret efficiently rhythmic
symbols through counting time values; and
c. draw the different kinds of note with
precision.

A whole note looks like (a hole in the ground) 3x,

A half note looks like (a little d) 3x,

And it is worth 2 beats.

A quarter note looks like (a filled-in d) 3x,
A quarter note looks like a filled-in d,

An eighth note looks like (a d with a flag) 3x,
An eighth note looks like a d with a flag,
And it is worth 1/2 a beat.

A sixteenth note looks like (a d with two flags) 3x,
A sixteenth note looks like a d with two flags,
And it is worth 1/4 a beat.
