Strengths of Netscape

Ability to respond to the market requirements

Ability to create new versions of products

Quick recruitment process

Problem
The deal between Netscape and AOI would lead to the
reduction of netscapes workforce, the key strength of
the company

Though initially the company promised to maintain
the same old organizational culture, workers were
asked to change their way of working

Reasons for exodus
AOLs corporate philosophy (Centralization and
Control of content) was completely different from
that of Netscape philosophy

Monetary considerations

Emotional feelings-that they were just a small part
of a bigger(now) company

Solution
To make Netscape the technology arm of AOL

To give the employees same freedom they had at
Netscape

To accept the feelings and decisions of employees

Asking for the employee feedback
