Introduction: Mental retardation or which currently called the intellectual
disability is a intellectual function disorder which is showed functional deficits in adaptive behavior, social and communication skills in everyday life. In the most cases, individuals with intellectual disability has an IQ below 70. Many cause factors of intellectual disability which is influence each other and continuesly such as, malnutrition or drugs consumed by pregnant mother, neuro toxic substances, premature birth, cerebral ischemia, pre- or post-natal infection, and genetic disorders. Method of the Study: This research is a descriptive observational research. The sample is student of Special School (SLB) C Alpa Kumara Wardhana II Surabaya with suspected of intellectual disability. The number of sample is 1 person. Result of the Study: Phenotypes are found in patients such as the oval face, prominent forehead, hypertelorism (distance between the eyes), a high and narrowed palate, pes planus o(flat feet), on the genitalia found signs of secondary sex and there is a hernia in the testes. The result of karyotiping is 46, XY. Conclusion: The result of chromosome analysis shows that there is no abnormality of chromosome structure and number. This study needs to be continued with molecular test to determine abnormalities that occurat the level of DNA and chromosome abnormalities in submicroscopic level.
