Presidents Message by Edwin delos Santos Jr.

It is both a
powerful honor
and a distinct
privilege to be
given the opportunity
to
serve PICPA
Cagayan
de
Oro- Misamis Oriental Chapter.
With the overwhelming support
from our members, I am more than
inspired to lead from behind.
This year, as we continue
the story of PICPA, whose end we
will not see, we take inspiration
from the theme LEAP and
BEAT the Odds! #Lead #Excel
#Advocate #Participate #Build

#Energize #Adapt #Transform.

Challenges never fail to confront us
but we owe it to our predecessors
and successors to conquer no matter
how superior, greater and more
powerful it may seem.
In behalf of the officers
and committee chairpersons, I enjoin all members and the community
to take an active part in our various
activities. We commit to deliver
innovative projects that will
strengthen our unity, redefine our
culture of excellence by ensuring
that all activities will start and end
on time, stage seminars and trainings that transcends sectoral requirements and challenges, intensify our

membership reach out through

personalized campaign and spiritually and physically nourishing
activities, enhance our social
responsibility programs through
various partnerships and realize
our dream of having our own
building.
At the dawn of yet another year of PICPA, we see
light through our unified efforts.
Only with love, compassion,
commitment and strong sense of
service of everyone can we defy
the gravity of all odds. The fate
of the story is now is in our

PICPA CDO-MIS. OR. CHAPTER Planning 2014-15 by PP Melanie Talimio

Members come and go,
officers lead and leave; but
PICPA Cagayan de Oro-Misamis
Oriental Chapter will always be
around.
Standing strong towards
its 48th year, PICPAs
local chapter has ridden
with the tide of times and
has reaped the rewards of
its long existence. Its
strength lies in the unwavering dedication of its
members and its past
chapter presidents and the
strong commitment of its
incumbent officers. Nevertheless, one asks what
makes a banner year?
The secret, as past officers are
wont to say, is in the preparation.
Plan your work and work your
plan has been a redundant and
pounding theme.
With this in mind, the
Officers,
Directors-in-Charge,
Committee Chairs, and Past
Presidents cum Advisers, gathered at the Marco Hotel last June
14, 2014to formulate a battery of
activities for PICPA CDO MIS
OR Fiscal Year 2014-15.
Incoming
President
Edwin shared his dreams for the
year while Officers and Directors-in-Charge took turns to discuss their initial plans geared
towards attaining the years
goals.
What made this Annual
Planning activity different from

the past years though, is the presence of the formidable lady judge,
the Honorable Jerlie L. Requerme.
Tackling the Roberts Rules of Order and dissecting the novel complexities through a power-point

presentation, Judge Requerme was

able to simplify and make the audience appreciate the point of following the basic rules in conducting
meetings in particular and the parliamentary procedures in general.
Seasoned as some are in
the parliamentary procedures, the
medium of the lecture and the Resource Person herself made for an
informative and well appreciated
presentation.
Judge Requerme and IP
Edwin share one thing in common,
being awardees of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines
(TOSP). It is of no surprise that
these two brilliant minds are going
to create, with PICPA as the spearhead, a reunion of all TOSP awardees in Northern Mindanao.
One of the important dis-

cussions centred on the construction of our chapters building this

year. Irreplaceable Chair Dante
Clarito brought blueprints of the
buildings perspective and everyone
present was euphoric of the promise
that the 2 storey
building with a
mezzanine to boot
will finally proceed
as planned. The 6
year wait will at
long last see fruition under IP Edwins able stewardship.
Another adrenaline
rush inducing project is the upcoming
Accountancy Week Celebration.
The usual activities like the opening
salvo on July 13, the Search for the
Most Outstanding Accountancy
Student (MOAS), the Search for the
Mr. & Ms. JPIA, the Four Sector
Days, and many more will provide
the constancy in the celebration.
The PICPA Filmfest, a brain-child
of IP Edwin and on its 3rd year,
however, will be raised a notch
higher as it will involve not only
the JPIAns vying in the student/
school category, but the active participation of the PICPAns themselves as they vie in the per Sector
competition. This by itself is an
exciting activity to watch out for!
The Planning closed with a
sumptuous lunch and picture taking
the for the souvenir program to be
issued during the Chapters Joint

be-

gins with the 1st General Membership Meeting

of the host Chapter followed by dinner. The
second segment is the induction of the National
nACPAE Board of Directors. The third one is
the induction of the Chapter and local sectoral
officers. The final segment is the presentation
of chapter and nACPAE awards.

Induction with the National Association of
CPAs in Education. It was a day worth ones
while.
As an epilogue, there is so much to look forward to but in a span of twelve months everything will be history. When the time comes and
as awards are reaped and the Chapter brought
to the forefront, we can all savour the joy and
we can all swell with pride knowing we have
played our part as members or/and officers of
the organization. To the officers led by IP Edwin, Congratulations for accepting your posts
and may you all lead PICPA Cagayan de OroMisamis Oriental Chapter to greater heights.
God bless you all.
