Announces New Additions
(Chicago, ILL) - Lake Michigan Twilight Cruise Company is enhancing the
current fleet of cruise ships by investing in two additional diesel-powered
catamarans. The new investments are expected to improve the experience for
customers and increase the companys revenue.
Last calendar years season the company reached gross revenue of $1.69
million and attracted more than 45,000 guests on the existing Yacht class
cruisers Twilight and Star Gazer. We had our most successful season yet, so
we decided to purchase two new ships, the Morning Star and Comet, said Sarah
Del Rio, General Manager. The new ships will hold 190 passengers, which
exceed the current ships.
Currently, the new diesel-powered catamarans are being constructed in
sections at Beth-O-Blarney Iron Works in Doublemill, Scotland. The ship parts
will be sent to Gary, Indiana re-assembled and transported to Chicago. The ships
are expected to arrive this coming spring in May 2015 just on time for the new
season that runs from June to October.
The company spent $3.2 million on this business venture with
expectations to increase attendance and double annual revenues.

City Colleges Decision to Reduce Work-Study Hours Influence by Federal Government

(Chicago) In late September City College administration agreed to reduce all

student work hours by 5 percent.
The federal government publicized the decision to cut 5 percent of funding
for work-study programs at all colleges and universities. As a result City College
administration determined that the best solution was to reduce each of the students
work hours rather than eliminating students from the program.
The work-study program is provided to create opportunities for students to
gain experience in the work field, so our administration decided to keep the
opportunity open for as many students as possible, said Sarah Del Rio, Director of
Student Work-Study.
Approximately 15,000 students attend the two-year institution. Roughly 20
percent of the student body are part-time employees at the college and receive
federally supported work-study. We need our jobs so were grateful that
administration reduced our hours rather than removing students from the
program, said Kate Ashton, sociology major from Elmwood Park, ILL.
