A document camera is an educational hardware tool that allows teachers to project images and write horizontally, which aids those of short stature in writing problems on the board clearly. It also records and sends videos, and can be used to demonstrate techniques across subjects like math, language arts, and art. New models simply plug into a computer's USB port to project alongside other instructional tools.

Elena Halley A document camera is a very useful piece of educational hardware in a math classroom. As a person of short stature writing out problems on the board can be a challenge. Spacing is important, and when writing vertically its hard to keep everything in a line. The document not only allows you to write horizontally and project onto the board, but also allows you to record and send videos when using the newer models. Outside of math, this sort of tool could be used to show how to annotate a text, or in an art classroom to demonstrate drawing techniques. Newer models plug into a usb port and can be used in conjunction with a projector and computer.
