How To: Permedia Software

Create Temperature Curves and Maps

Quickly create a temperature map in Permedia Viewers software

using curves. A curve describes a simple relationship, such as
depth vs temperature. Curves can be spatially scaled to take into
account any regional variations in the relationship.

Applying Curve to a Depth Map

Once you have created a temperature curve, use Map Viewer to
apply it to a structure map to create a temperature map:

Using Curve Editor, you can quickly create, edit, and plot curves
in a variety of ways, including pasting from Microsoft Excel,
calculating a curve from an equation, fitting a curve from well
data, or clicking points in a plot.

2. From the Tools menu, choose Edit and Apply Curve.

1. Open the structure map in Map Viewer.

3. For Curve, click Select, choose the temperature curve, and

click OK.
4. Click OK to apply the curve.

Create a Depth-Temperature Curve in Curve Editor

To create a depth-temperature curve:

You can also drag and drop a curve from the main window onto
the map in Map Viewer.

1. In the main window under Utilities, click Curve Editor.

Other Things to Try

Use the temperature curve in Kinetics (2D Orgas) to create
generation and expulsion maps of light and heavy components.
(See the Expulsion Maps How To.)

2. From the Edit menu, choose Depth-Temperature Curve.

3. Set the curve parameters and click OK.
4. From the File menu, choose Save, enter a File name for the curve,
and click Save.

In Curve Editor, use a scalar map with your curve to add

location (XY) dependency to curve values.
