Question 3

What is a media institution?

A media institution is a company who owns a lot of companies in different
media industries. For example Television, Film, Books, Newspapers,
Magazines etc..
Time Warner are an example of a media institution, they own companies in
internet, film, television and others.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
My media product is my opening sequence for One More Round. One More
Round is a sport movie, directed at 15-30 year olds. Similar movies are The
Fighter, Rambo and The Raging Bull
Distributers:
Rocky- Winkler Films
The Fighter- Mandeville Films
The Raging Bull- Winkler Films
Mandeville Films
Mandeville Films was founded in 1994, it is a company
owned by Walt Disney. David Hoberman founded
Mandeville, but then left and joined Hyde Park
Entertainment- the company was reformed in 2002. Big films the
company has produced are: George of the Jungle, Beverly Hills Chihuahuas,
Warm Bodies and The Muppets: Most Wanted.
Why did I choose Mandeville Films?
I feel that Mandeville Films would be the perfect distributor for One More
Round for a couple reasons:

1. They are an independent company that produce a lot of small, but

successful movies, Warm Bodies and The Muppets. I think that the
company would be able to really help my movie do well and not be
distracted with big name stars.
2. A similar film to One More Round is The Fighter, which helped influence
the story. Because Mandeville have produced a similar movie they will
know how to make an award winning boxing movie.
