Revolution
By Kieran & Joey

Yemeni
Revolution
The Yemeni revolution was a anti-government protest
that led to a revolution. In its early phase, protests in
Yemen were initially against unemployment, economic
conditions and corruption. The protestors demands then
got carried away, they demanded for Yemeni President Ali
Abdullah Saleh to resign from presidency. Protesters
decided to defy the orders or the military which only
made things worse.

Who
Revolted?
The people revolted against the authority of the
president and military. In January, 27, 2011 a major
demonstration of over 16,000 protestors took place in
Sana'a, Yemen's capital. After several days of protesting,
president Ali Abdullah Saleh resigned from presidency.
The people came together to form a protest as a whole,
but still in a way it wasnt fully together, women were in
separate parts from the men during the protest so the
women wouldnt get hurt.

Why Did They

Revolt?
The Yemeni revolution was a anti-government protest
that led to a revolution. In its early phase, protests in
Yemen were initially against unemployment, economic
conditions and corruption. The protestors demands then
got carried away, they demanded for Yemeni President
Ali Abdullah Saleh to resign from presidency. Protesters
decided to defy the orders or the military which only
made things worse. The president started this uprising
by promising something and not keeping his word. The
people were fed up and demanded him to resign, they
figured it would help to protest so they could get their

How Did They

Organize?

The protest was largely organized by text message.

The protest wasnt organized for very long but it wasnt
spontaneous, I am to believe the people were fed up with
president Ali Abdullah Saleh for awhile. There was no
official organizers of the revolution it kind of just

How did the people

overthrow the
government?

On June 3rd, a bombing at the presidential palace left

the president injured and seven other government
officials wounded. The people tried to assassinate the
leader to overthrow the government. The people did not

How did the

government
respond?

On June 4th a cease fire was regarded as Saleh left for

surgery. The government release fire in which led to
sporadic violence in the capital. The government did not
give in to the people, in fact they did the opposite, they
fired back with lots of military force. This lead to a huge

How was the government the same

or different following the revolution?
The president finally
declared his resign for
presidency in 2012, that is 1
whole year of deadly combat
fired between the two. The
government diced to split the
decision down the middle with
the people, they didnt fully
give in to them but they still
agreed with some of their
points. So really the
government improved for the
people and for their own goof
after the revolution.

In your opinion, was this revolution

"successful"?
In our opinion, yes we did think it was very successful
when they overthrew the country and rebelled against
them until they made an agreement once the president
resigned.
