Classroom Management

Classroom management and

discipline are very important
parts of teaching.

March 27, 2015

1.Organizing a productive classroom

Because of the big space of the classroom, all students can see the board
clearly, and walk around the classroom so easily. Some time when the
teacher observe that some students are noisy or disruptive, she move the
children to different seats.

2.Classroom Rules and Procedures

There is three rules in the classroom, and all student can understand it,
and the rules are, I apologize if I did something wrong. Ask permission if I
want something and work and share everything with everyone.

3.Positive Greetings at the door

When the students arrived my MST says for the girls Hi princess , and
for the boy Hi hero , then she hug and kiss them.

4.Managing independent work

When the teacher says something she give a clear instruction, like points
her finger. Sometime when students finish their work earlier, the MST
gave them extra works to do.

5.Communication
There are many feature that I like it in my MST, and my favorite one is that
she is very praise for the kids. For example, she says constantly for the good
and weak student you are cleaver and brilliant .

6.Teach and Model Behavior

To let someone learn from you the good behavior ,you should first shows him
your good behavior, and that what my MST do with her learners. For example,
she teach them that when someone is speak you should be a good listener.
That why when same of her student talk, she listen to him till he finished.

7.Teacher Proximity (closeness)

Throw the activity time the MST start to walk all around the classroom to
watch what students are doing and orientation them.

8.Motivation System
There is a reward system in the classroom for the learners, its called Dojo
Points, and its an point for the good works and for the good behavior. Dojo
points something so effective for students because in the end of the day the
one who gets the most points get a present.

9. Goal Setting
In the beginning of the class the teacher always says, ok, today we are all
going to get a smily face and five Dojo points for the good behavior of the day.

10.Visual schedule posted?

I ask my MST, why there is no visual schedule posted for the kids in
the classroom? , she said that they are still young and the don't
need a posted schedule.

11. Cuing system to gain control of the classroom.

The MST sing a song for the kids to get their attention and keep them quite
and the song says put your finger in your lips in your lips in your lips , and
that song always works with the kids.

12.5 to 1 ratio of positive to negative comments and interactions

My MST never says for the kids a negative words, because thy still so young,
but on the other hand she says a million positive words to them. For example,
she always says to them wow you are brilliant, thats amazing and my children
are so cleaver.

13.Smiling
The teacher always smiles in her children face, and they smile to her back. I
feel that the kids feel comfortable when the teacher always smiles in their face,
and that is a good thing for their psyche.

14.Student answering questions

Everyone has a chance to answer in the classroom either the one who did
not raise his hand up.

Observation
This week observation is about observe two children and
compare between them, one who has excellent behavior and one
who does not. The excellent behavior kid that I choose is Karam
and the misbehavior one called Obaid.
Karam is a brilliant student who knows information beyond
his mind. Always when the teacher praised him, because he is
always the firs answer, he get happy and excited. That why the
teacher always praised him to motivate the kids to be like him.
Obaid is a spoiled kid, who do always what he want to do. For
example, while the group work he always talk and did not finished
his work, and that effect other student because they start to
imitate his actions, and when the teacher reprimand him he atop
for five minute or start to cry.

Reflection
It is always important to be proactive if you want to manage
the behavior in the classroom, to keep the classroom in control,
because there are some misbehavior kids, and they are affected
the other student who imitate their actions. And I think that the
best management strategies for the children is to motivate them
with what they likes. For example, give the a small gift, Dojo
points or a hand star sticker, if they act good. And if the they
misbehavior she takes a Dojo points from them. And I think that
this strategy will works with my future children, because my MST
is dong very will by using it.
