Media production exercise no 2 realisation

Colour Manipulation.
Provide a detailed explanation of how the completed exercise realises the stated aim of the
exercise. The explanation should outline the extent to which the aim was realised. Also indicate
what you have learnt that is relevant to the production of your SAT.
It was established that after the completion of this exercise I could distinctly create a surrealistic look
that associated with a dreamy-pink effect. This effective style in my photographs here could
essentially be taken into consideration for my final product for creating a surrealistic impact that
embodies a distinct story telling quality. The dramatic, source of isolated lighting allowed me to
investigate story telling with surrealism and aesthetically this was achieved by the exploration and
incorporation of light, faded pinky tones. Even though the tones that I explored consisted of various
colours and exposures I looked at green, blue, purple, red, and pink colour tones however it was
discovered that in this natural setting and under these lighting conditions pink was most effective at
stabilising my aim. As planned I only made a few lighting adjustments as well as exploring many
techniques of split toning, temperature and tint and colour tweaks that I was available to in
photoshop and Lightroom. Photoshop and Lightroom are very capable programs and I as
discovered enabled me to explore a series of techniques and methods to invest in colour toning and
lighting adjustment to effective juxtapose the both. Lightroom enabled me to take control of light
and fiddle with temperatures where as photoshop allowed me to explore in detail the way in which I
could colour tone certain aspects of my imagery. Above all during this exercise it was as identified
above that I could turn natural images into surrealistic ones. I have learnt a lot to take with me in the
future in relation to my production. This includes the understanding of what direction I will take in
colour and toning of my photographs and how I will approach it effectively to not only create a body
of work that has stuck to my plan but has been efficiently created and embodied the expectations
of what my design plan outlays. I note that during this exercise I realised that I could not adapt to
having qualities of surrealistic work that was directly similar to those of which were in my research. It
was more challenging then initially thought and therefore it was realised here that my expectations
are maybe a little off being of realistic or achievable nature. In saying this I could note that finding it a
challenge to create a surrealistic look upon my images that features similar properties to those of
who I researched allowed me to create my own distinctive features about my type of surrealism.
This is what I will take fourth with me when I continue with my production, to understand
authenticity yet what is possible and what is not. Overall though, I achieved my aim of developing a
simple, creative and effective way of producing natural images into surrealistic ones. I am perhaps
thinking that my final product would engage in the exact same qualities of these images I created in
this exercise now that I have an understanding of certain techniques that enable me to edit my
photos to result in such outcomes.
