WHO IS THE BEST

ARCHITECT?
There are many architects and their
styles are all different from each
others. The question is really not
as simple as it may seem, it all depends on your personal preference.
Many people would say that Frank
Lloyd Wright is the best architect,
and they may be right. There are
many styles to architecture also,
and one person cant win them all.

MODERNISM:
Modern architecture was a widely
popular style between the early
1900s through the present. Some
of the most widely known buildings from this category would be
The Guggenheim, Falling Water,
the Salk Institute, National Congress of Brazil, and the John F.
Kennedy Airport. The most famous architects in this category
would be Frank Lloyd Wright, Eero
Saarinen, and Oscar Neimeyer.
They all are amazing architects
and they all deserve credit, but I
think that both Oscar Neimeyer
and Frank Lloyd Wright are the
best modern architects. Oscar
Neimeyer became the most influential architect in Brazil and designed many of the important
buildings in the capital of Brasilia.

BAUHUAS/
INTERNATIONAL:
The idea of nothing more than
you need (minimalism) became
the main starting point of the international style that became
popular after WWII. The most
well known buildings in this style
would be Villa Savoye, the Farnsworth House, the Seagram Building, Bauhaus, the Willis Tower,
and the Fagus Factory. The most
well known architects in this style
would be Walter Gropius, Ludwig
Mies van der Rohe, and Le Corbusier. The best architects in this
category would be Walter Gropius
and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
Walter Gropius and Ludwig Mies
van der Rohe both founded the
Bauhaus school and spread the
idea of international style. They
were the ones who started the
idea of minimalism.

POSTMODERN STYLE:
The postmodern style of architecture isnt as much of a style as it is
a time frame. It started in the
1950s, but did not become popular until the late 1970s. The most
well-known buildings in this category would be, Taipei 101,
Petronas Towers, the Sony Building, the World Financial Center,
and the Wells Fargo Center. The
most popular architects are Csar
Pelli, Philip Johnson, and C. Y. Lee.
I think that Csar Pelli is the best
architect in this category because
he has created the most wellknown postmodern buildings such
as the Petronas Towers, the Wells
Fargo Center, and the World Financial Center.

STRUCTURAL EXPRESSIONISM:
This style, also known as hightech or late modernism, emerged
in the 1970s. The most popular
buildings in this style are the John
Hancock Center, the Lake Shore
Drive Apartments, HSBC Hong
Kong Headquarters, and Lloyds
Building. The most popular architects are Skidmore, Owings &
Merrill, Norman Foster, and Richard Rogers. The best architect in
this category would be Skidmore,
Owings & Merrill. They have
many well-known buildings such
as the Willis Tower, the 7 World
Trade Center, and the John Hancock Center. They follow Ludwig
Mies van der Rohes style so
much that frank Lloyd Wright
called them the Three Blind
Mies.
