The Boron family contains Boron, Aluminum,
Gallium, Indium, and Thallium.
Boron creates a green flame.
They are referred to as earth metals or triels.
Due to its melting point Gallium melts in your
hand(85 degrees F)
Thallium will change color when exposed to air.

Facts
Aluminum is the third most abundant element
found in earths crust.
Indium was discovered in 1863, and named for
the indigo blue line in its spectrum.

Common Uses
Boron is an essential nutrient for plants.
Boron is also used in mass production of
fiberglass and ceramics.
Aluminum is most often found in construction
materials and is especially as the conductor in
cables
Gallium is one of the chief components of blue
LED lights.

How the Boron family got its name


The Boron family got its name from the Arabic
word Buaq and Burah. They are persian words.
Both words form the name Boron, which was
originated from the words Borax and Carbon.
The meaning of Boron is its a trivalent
metalloid element. It occurs both in a hard
black crystal and in the form of a yellow or
brown powder.
