The document discusses what the authors learned from receiving audience feedback during different stages of their film project. They conducted initial focus groups to get feedback on their film idea and found the feedback helpful for developing the idea. Another focus group provided useful feedback on a draft of their music video that influenced choices about filming during the day versus night. A further focus group agreed with their idea to film the protagonist in empty public places and derelict locations to portray loneliness. A final focus group suggested adding lyrics on screen and faster editing pace to improve the post-production, which strengthened the final music video.

We used many stages of audience
feedback throughout our project this
year. It was a great way of getting quick feedback and taking the peoples opinions and adding them to our film.
We started off with a focus group to pitch our film
idea to before anything was filmed to see if they
liked the idea of our film. We asked questions that we were unsure of as a group and thought an outside perspective would work very well. They really enjoyed the idea of our film but they also gave us some constructive criticism that helped as bring the ideas together. We asked them if they felt the video should have a girl in it as we were unsure but they came up with a great idea that the film shouldnt have a woman because it will portray the man even stronger as the camera will solely be on him.
We also did a focus group and we got good
feedback on a draft of our music video without any
post production and their opinions helped shape our decision into making some vital aspects of our video. Firstly we gave them the choice of night or day. The focus group decided on night time but we were thinking day time would be better suited. In the end due to the feedback of the focus group we chose to film in both times of day. This will represent the transition between Mike's mood and its change. We learnt that by using the whole day we can suit peoples preference and it also matches our ideas for the music video.
Outfit we decided on
Secondly in outfits the group agreed that the
protagonist had to stand out, that his emotions
had to mirror his outfit possibly by a hood covering his head. For location the group decided on public areas but when they are empty to symbolise loneliness which is exactly what we were looking for. We asked our peer group weather or not it was a good idea to choose derelict locations to emphasise the protagonists loneliness. It was vital that we got some opinions on this as it is what the majority of the representation in the video is based on. To our relief they agreed that it was a good idea.
Post Production We also held another focus group as we had
some doubts about our post production. We
had to decide whether to add lyrics onto the screen for effect and whether they like our editing pace. Our feedback taught us that the film was a bit too bland and the lyrics would be a great touch to eradicate this minor problem. We also learnt that our editing pace was a bit slow so we decided to shorten shots and speed the pace on the beat which was very effective and took our music video to a better quality.
