PSYCH 1100

THIS CERTIFIES THAT

KAITLYN DUFFY
has successfully completed the signature assignment and has learned
the following:

Before 1899 dream theories were not based on scientific evidence.

Sigmund Freud believed that dreams were our minds way of dealing with things we
repress in a non-threatening manner.
There are two types of dream content, manifest: what you remember, and latent: the
symbols in the dream.
We only dream for about 20% of our sleep cycle during REM, rapid eye movement,
sleep.
It is theorized that dreaming helps us cope with trauma.
Some believe that dreaming is random firings of the brain while others think that it
does, in fact, hold a purpose.
Lucid dreaming is when you can realize you are in a dream and then control it. Lucid
dreamers are found to have a higher level of consciousness.
