SCHS Event/Action Planner

SCHS Leadership Major Project

Consider:

What is your goal? Our goal is to support the local SPCA in Cochrane, through National Cupcake
Day.

Whos on your team? Julia Shore, Karleigh Baldwin (Grade 10)

When will this event/action occur? The official National Cupcake Day is February 23rd, 2015,
however this event could occur during a lunch that week. February 23 rd is a school holiday, so the
event itself could not occur on that day.

Ask yourself: When do you want this to begin and end? How does it fit in the schools calendar of
events? When should you start telling people about your project/event?
We would like the event to occur throughout the week of February 24-27 th. As
mentioned above, February 23rd is a professional learning day, so the event would not be
on that day specifically. We would likely notify people the week of February 9-13 th, the
week before family week holidays.

Where will you hold your event? We will hold the event in the main hall of the school during lunches.

Ask yourself: Is this a school activity or a community event? Where is your headquarters for your
team so everyone stays in the loop?
This is more of a school activity, as it will run during school hours within the school.
We will accept donations from community members as well, however most funds will
come from the cupcake sales. Our headquarters will be at Julia Shores house, which
is where we will do most of our organizing. Also they will be at school.

Event/Action:

This is an event created to support SPCAs and Humane Societies all

across Canada. We will sell cupcakes in the front foyer on Tuesday,
March 3rd, 2015 to raise money for the Cochrane Humane Society
through the already organised day National Cupcake Day. We will
bake cupcakes ourselves and then sell them.

Todays Date:

February 19, 2015

Sponsored By:

We do not need a sponsor. We will be baking the cupcakes ourselves

and do not need any costs covered. Ms. Lyons, however, is the
teacher supporting us.

Description of the Activity:

We are both very passionate about animals. We both have large pet dogs
that we love and would really like to support the humane society. When we

turn 16, we would both really like to volunteer there, as it is a great cause
very specific) and we both love working with animals. In middle school, we did a similar
bake sale and had great success. The humane society was very thankful for
our efforts and we would like to repeat this process and support them
further. And who doesnt love animals and cupcakes?

Who?

What?

Where?

How? (be
very specific)

We, Julia Shore and Karleigh Baldwin, will be selling cupcakes at Springbank
Community High School. We may required other people to help out in
executing this event, in which case we would ask Lara Calvo and Julia
Zonneveld to help us. They could use our event in their volunteer hours.
This event is a home-baked cupcake fundraiser.

This event will be held in the front foyer of Springbank Community High
School.

We will plan and organise the event throughout the year. Closer to the date,
we will create posters and make announcements in order to advertise the
event. We could also post on social media, through the schools twitter
account, on the school website and within our friend groups on social
networking sites to spread the word. We will bake the cupcakes ourselves.
We will then get them out during lunch hour and run a booth which sells
these cupcakes on February 25th, 2015.

Estimated Costs: provide breakdown

As we already have ingredients, there will be no costs for this major project.
