Executive Summery
The NAO has many different services that they will provide, our mission is to
make a comfy and safe learning environment. Our main focus will be ages 116, and all of the workers must be certified in various things and should be
trained with working with kids with special needs. Katelin Collins is the only
owner. We want to focus on what the kids want and need and we will grow by
giving them exactly what they want and will build strong relationships with
them so that they become loyal customers.
When The NAO applies for their loan to start the business we will ask for
about 8,000 to get the business up and running. I will also use this money so
that I can buy some equipment that I will need to create all the rooms that I
would like. (ex. couches, chairs, sinks, toys, utilities, ect.) As soon as our
business is up and running we will pay back our loan monthly.

General Company Description

Mission StatementThe National Autism Organization's (NAO) mission is to support everyone

who is dealing with autism spectrum disorders and their families. We are
dedicated to you and your families, we are dedicated to making a difference
in your life, we are dedicated to helping your child improve with their
disability. We want to raise awareness for this life changing condition. We
will create fundraisers to help raise money for the research on autism. Also it
will help us raise awareness.
Company Goals and ObjectivesThe NAO will be located in Hyde Park Vermont. Our goal is to support
families affected by autism. NAO wants to have healthy relationships with
the children and their parents. Also to provide all the help you need. Weather
that is answering a question or taking care of your child. We promise to be
loyal to you and we will make a difference in your children's life and their
actions.
Business Philosophy-

Succeeding is important to the NAO business. NOA would like to make a

difference in your lives. Succeeding would be knowing that I did make a
difference in your life and kids.
IndustryStrengthsMy most important company strength will be the way we handle the kids
needs/wants, we will take all the training lessons so that we will succeed. My
major competitive strengths will be stronger than anyone else's we are
willing to help raise money for research for autism and we are also willing to
watch your kids for you and help them improve on whatever you would like
us to focus on. My background skills are that I respond very well to what they
are saying or asking. I know when something is wrong and I usually can
figure out what it is and respond the correct way.
OwnershipI would like do a general partnership with one of my friends because she is
very talented in what she does with kids like this, with two people that are
very skilled with this would make our company a lot more stronger then it
would be if I did a sole proprietor.

Products and ServicesServices- NAO is a service business: Services offered are: Teaching them in
groups and one on one, doing activates that they want to do, then activates that the
teachers think would be good for them. Some advantages would be I will be able to
be as flexible as I need to be and I will be able to focus more considering I have
other people relying on me and if I'm not that could cause my business to fail. Some
disadvantages would be I could have, would be high stress level, and high stress
level causes a lot of things like lack of focus. undercapitalization is also a really high
disadvantage but I would make sure that everything wasn't going to have lack of
funds to operate my business before I actually started it.

Services offered-

Teaching one on one- Every month I will give some kind of test so I can see
what they are improving on and what they need more improvement on and
once we get the test results we will pair them up with one of the workers and
5

they will go into a different room with them and they will work on the things
that they need to work on.

Activities- We will let them pick one activities that they all want to do once a
day and we will do that with them, we will give them a chart full of ideas and
when they all agree on them we will do it. Then the workers will come up with
a unit that we think would be really good for them, like working on something
that we think they all lack EX- Spelling activities.
We will also provide play time and nap time play time will be right before nap
time and when they wake up they will all get another round of play time and
then snack time and after that parents should start to arrive.

Breakfast and lunch are provided and it is a state requirement.

Marketing Plan

Economics:

The is one NAO.

There is only my business in Hyde Park, VT.
NAO will make up 100% of the market.
NAO offers many different trends, such as education.

Barriers:

High Capital Cost: The equipment will cost a lot of money that I have.
High Marketing Cost: We will need to spend quite a bit of money to get
consumers attention and have them attracted to it.
High Production Cost: Not very high.

Consumer acceptance and recognition: People will have a hard time

accepting my business especially because some people will have
mixed feelings about it and some people may get the wrong idea from
it.
Training and skills: We will have to be able to have people skills, and be
certified in Autism. You will also need training as to what to do if
someone is having a melt down or aren't using their filter. Also CPR.
Technology and patents:
Unions:
Shipping cost: None.
Tariff barriers and quotas: None.

I will overcome these barriers by keeping track of all the money we make and give
away. I will make sure that everyone I hire is trained and certified in all the fields
that are required. If they are not trained I will take that responsibility in training
them myself if I think that they are capable of this j0ob. I will be sure that when I
open my business that I have made sure that people in my town that surround me
will know and understand why I am opening this of business.

How could this affect my company?

Change in technology: I don't think that if there is a change in technology

that it would affect my as much as it would in a business that used everyday
technology. My business would mostly be hands on, except I would use excel
to keep track of my checking's and savings.
Change in government regulations: Government regulations could affect us
badly or good I guess, it would depend if what us was that the government
was changing.
Change in the economy: The economy could be bad if prices increased
because some people may not be able to afford my business. If the economy
stays the same then t wouldn't affect us because my business would be
affordable and with customers I would be able to pay all of my bills without
having to figure out a different way too.

Customers

Age: All ages between 1-16.

Gender: Both.
Location: My location would be in Hyde Park, VT.
Income level:
Education: Most go to school and get your certificate in Autism, have some
sort of back ground with kids with special needs, and all different kind of
education provided for the kids who will be attending my business.
Size of firm: I will start off with about 12 kids and 5 adults so that we can all
get the right adjustments that we need.

Competition:
I will have competition from one other business like me and that is Laraway. They
provide similar education that I provide.

Operational Plan
Production

Production- I am not selling any products

Location- I will want to have a decent size place, with a kitchen and in
my building I will have a nap place, play place, eating place, and
learning space.
This will be more of a house looking place so it is a little more
comfortable for the kids.

Access-

I will need to have easy walk-in access and I will need to have a decent
size parking lot for the parents to drop or and pick up their kids.

Construction

I will plan on adding on to the building and remodeling once my

business is up and running for a little while.

Cost

The cost will be relatively expensive for a little while, especially for
utilities because I am going to need to use that a lot.

Hours

7-5 and overnight care if absolutely needed

Legal Environment

I will be a licensed childcare provider.

I will have my permit to be a licensed childcare provider.
I will have to inspected by the state to open up my business.
I will have insurance coverage on the house and all the parents must
have insurance as well.

Management and Organization

I will manage the business on a day-to-day basis.

I will bring my accounting skills personal and mental, skills to the business.
I would hope that if something happened my co-workers would continue to
operate the business for me.

Personal Financial Statement

Right now I would take out money through a loan because I don't have enough
money to start up my business. I would use my car as an assets if the NAO is shut
down because we are unable to pay our loan back.

Startup Expenses and Capitalization

Considering that my business is almost like an outreach program for kids that
need a little extra help I researched some similar business around me like
Laraway and the Family Center, they both were off by a couple different
dollars but by doing my math and calculating everything together I found out
what I need so that I could startup my business.
NAO startup expenses:
Equipment and supplies- 4,500
Insurances, deposits, utilities, and possible rent or building repairs20,000
11

Promotional- 1,200
Estimated total- 25,700
