OPENING CLASS PROCEDURE

Explain
State the Procedure
Today we will learn what to do when we come into the classroom.
Generate Rationale
This is important because it will help us get the most out of our classroom time and what is
expected of the student before the tardy bell rings.
Explain and Model the Procedure
1) Place any homework into the basket on the teachers desk.
2) Be in your seat ready to work quietly.
3) Begin the opening activity/review (directions on the whiteboard)
4) Wait quietly for the teachers instruction
Check for Understanding
1) What do we do first?
2) What does it mean to be seated and ready to work?
a. Pencil out
b. Notebook out
c. Bags under desk
3) Why is it important to review?
4) Why wait quietly when done with the review?

Rehearse
Practice the Procedure
1) Have the students practice the procedure.
Provide Feedback
1) Congratulations you successfully come into the classroom.
2) Make corrections if needed.

Reinforce
Reteach, Practice, Reinforce
1) Give praise when students follow the procedure correctly.
2) Remind students when the procedure is not followed.
3) Practice until right.
4) Praise when followed.
