Introduction Of NOT
GATE(INVERTER)
Inverter has only one input and one output. It will invert or
complement the input to its opposite logic level and send to
output. Figure above show the symbol for inverter.

Truth Table for Inverter

OUTPUT
Input
0 (low)

1(high)

1(high)

0 (low)

When a HIGH (1) level is applied to an

inverter input, a LOW (0) level will appear
on its output. When LOW (0) level is
applied to an inverter input, a HIGH (1)
level will appear on its output

If truth table shows the relation

between input and output in form of
table, timing diagram show the
relation between input and output
using waveform, more like a graph.

NOT gate output using

waveform
The output of an inverter is the
complement (opposite) of the input. When
the input to an inverter is high (1) the
output is low (0); and when the input is
low, the output is high.
The waveform on the output of an
inverter would look like the exact opposite
of the waveform on the input. The inverter
is also often called a NOT gate.

Example waveforms:

electronic
1.The logic NOT gate available in the transistor . Function to
be saturated
ON for an inverted output OFF at Q.

2. Logic NOT gate available as NOT gates IC in either 4 or

6 individual gates within a single IC package.

Conclusion
The conclusion that can make about NOT gate :

1. The easiest way is to think of the

NOT gate as simply an inverter.
2.For example: when the input to an
inverter is high (1) the output is low
(0)
3.NOT gate is very easy to understand
between another gate
