    EARTH SHAPE:

    MODERN SCIENCE: Tells us that the diameter of the earth, measured around the
    equator, is about 12756km (7926mi). The earth is not a perfect sphere but it slightly
    oblate, or flattened at the poles. Because of this flattening, the diameter of the earth
    measured around the North Pole and the South Pole 12713km (7899mi) - 43km (27mi)
    less that the equatorial diameter.
