GRADING
Student grades will be based on the following:
- Exams
- Quizzes
- Writing assignments
- Homework
- Projects
- Journal responses
- Participation
This list is subject to change as the classroom is ever-evolving and changing.
Grades will be calculated by adding up the total number of points earned, divided
by the total points possible. Grades are updated ONLINE every week to two
weeks. It is each students responsibility to monitor his or her grade ONLINE via
PowerSchool. Students who have trouble logging into their accounts must see the
guidance office immediately before or after school.
Grades are EARNED, not received.
LATE WORK
Late work will not be accepted. This is a classroom, not school-wide policy. If
assigned work is done on a timely basis, this will not be an issue. Do not
procrastinate and do not make excuses. If a student is absent, they are allotted the
number of days absent to turn in their homework, per school policy.
TURNITIN.COM

This class requires all students to turn in electronic copies, as well as hard copies, of
any and all writing assignments. Turnitin.com verifies any possible plagiarizing
concerns and keeps an electronic portfolio of all of your work. Lakeshore has
purchased the electronic service, Turnitin, to discourage student plagiarism and
cheating. ANY WORK FOUND TO NOT BE ORIGINAL WILL RECEIVE A ZERO AND
POSSIBLE DISCIPLINARY ACTION.
Note: If you signed up for this with your last teacher, you will use the same
email and password, just enroll in my class. Hopefully you remember your
password. This is your responsibility.
Turnitin.com is due when the essay is due. Information regarding enrollment to
come later.
EQUIPMENT/MATERIAL
- Please bring a binder or folder to organize classroom materials. A binder
with several dividers is suggested. Please include a journal or section for
lined paper.
-

Please also bring the current reading material as well as your own novel
from home to participate in SSR when time provides.

Personal technology is not allowed in the classroom unless previously

approved or requested by the teacher.

It would be wise to invest in a personal flash drive for saving documents.

There will be several assignments during the year that require access to a
computer or e-mail. Please notify me early on if this will be a problem,
and alternative arrangements will be made!
CLASSROOM WEBSITE
The classroom website (http://msccox.weebly.com) is your greatest tool for being
successful in this class. Here you will find a calendar that gives an agenda of what is
done in class every day. There are also helpful links, as well as copies of
assignments done in class. Please use this as a reference tool.
