I. Inches (Ruler)
Measure three lengths in this room in inches. Be as accurate as possible,
measuring to the nearest sixteenth with your ruler. When finished, convert to
centimeters using math.

Object Description Inches Centimeters Work

II. Centimeters (Ruler)

Measure three other lengths in this room in centimeters. Be as accurate as
possible, measuring to the nearest millimeter with your ruler. When finished,
convert to inches using math.

Object Description Inches Centimeters Work

III. Inches (Dial Caliper)

Measure four other lengths in this room in inches with the dial caliper. Measure
to the instrument’s fullest accuracy, to the nearest thousandth of an inch.

Measure the following angles:

Are the following pairs of angles complementary or supplementary? Write a C or S

accordingly, depending on your verdict.

What is the measure of the angle at the

inside of an average piece of pizza?
Measure for two pieces, using the
picture. Then justify this measure with
an argument based on how many pieces
there are and a “special” angle you find
in the picture.

_______________
What are the measures of the angles in the following regular shapes? Since they are regular,
that is all sides are the same length and all angles have the same measure, you only need to
measure one of the angles for each.

Make a table of your results, including also the total measure of all the angles. For example,
the heptagon has angles of about 129°, and there are seven of them, so the total is 7 x 129° =
903° (900° would be most accurate, but protractors, just like rulers, can’t measure perfectly
exact!)
