It was so wonderful that the weather held up and we were able to hold our
Open House. Thank you for attending and we hope that you enjoyed
yourselves. What great sports! The teamwork and communication
challenge brought about lots of excitement. It was a tight race between the
parents and students but in the end the students prevailed. It was a sight to
see.
Thank you to those who submitted the Parent Survey. Please keep your
ticket in a safe place and the office will contact the lucky winners shortly. If
you receive a call please bring the ticket to the office when you pick up your
prize which should be available during the week of Oct 12-16.
If you are interested in helping to create a PTO and/or being a part of the
Honaunau Foundation please call the principal - Noreen Kunitomo at 3282727. We are excited and ready to get started on the Honaunau
Scholarship opportunity.

On Friday, September 25, 2015 the pre school parents had a guest speaker, Aunty Cassie Baybayan, who is a Public Health Nurse from the
Department of Health, talked with us about hurricane preparedness. She showed a slide show of the past hurricanes that hit the
Hawaiian islands and the devastation it caused and although we were lucky enough to avoid the most recent ones, the bottom line is to
always BE PREPARED=PREVENTION. She gave us helpful handouts on Plan 9, Shelter in Place (nine essential items needed in an
emergency), A Consumer's Guide to Food Safety/Severe Storms & Hurricanes, Disaster Preparedness for People with Functional and Access
Needs, Personal Safety Outline Check List, The Hawaii Guide to Health Emergencies... We were very thankful for all the valuable
information that was shared. Mahalo Auntie Cassie!

Say Cheese!! This a friendly reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday, is Picture Taking Day. If you
misplaced your picture packet please contact the school for a replacement.

We would like to give a big shout out to Office Max- Kailua Kona for the generous donations that they delivered to our
school last week! It was also a sweet surprise to see former Honaunau Elementary student Shawn Ascino who never forgot
about us here!
The Book Fair is scheduled for the week of October 26 -30. We know students love this, so here is a little reminder so they can save up.
