Ready Weapons
This rule is not explicitly present in Core Rules but its existence is somewhat implied in the description of a few mastery
abilities for weapon skills and in the listing of Simple and Free actions in the combat section.
To ready a weapon means make it ready to hit in combat. It could mean stringing a bow, unsheathing a sword or raising the
head of that tetsubo or of that yari.
From now onwards all non-small weapons are considered not ready at the beginning of a combat, unless they were
declared to be set ready before the combat start.
To ready a weapon one must spend a Simple Action.
If you check the Core Rules you will see a series of mastery abilities which allow you to ready specific weapons as a Free
Action: Iiaijutsu R3, Kenjutsu R5, Kyujutsu R3, Polearms R7, Spears R7, Staves R3 (see Homebrew).
Unarmed attacks (Jiujutsu) are always considered to be ready, unless the GM decides so.
