positive or negative
static electricity- the build-up of positive or negative electric
charges
electric current electric charges in motion
resistance- a property of a material that does not allow electric
current to flow easily through it
series circuit- a circuit in which electric charge can flow only on
one path
parallel circuit- a circuit with two or more paths through which
electric current can flow

Chapter 2 Magnetism
Vocabulary
magnetism- a force that acts on either a moving electric charge or
on a magnetic material that is near a magnet
magnetic field- the space around a magnet in which magnetic
forces operate
magnetic poles- the two ends of a magnet, called the north
magnetic pole and the south magnetic pole
electromagnet a coil of wire through which electric current
passes, creating a magnetic field
