Angle Sum Theorem for Triangles

The sum of the measures of the three angles of any triangle is 180 degrees.
Angle Sum Theorem for Quadrilaterals
The sum of the measures of the four angles of any triangle is 360 degrees.
Angle Sum Theorem for Polygons
The sum of the measures of the interior angles of a convex polygon with n
sides is,
s = (n 2) 180

Examples:
1. Solve for the sum of the interior angles of a regular pentagon. What is the
measure of each?
s = (n 2) 180
= (5 2) 180

Therefore, 540 /5 = 108

= 3 (180 )
o

s = 540
2. The measure of an interior angle of a regular polygon is 120 degrees. What is
the polygon?
