A note from Mr. Field:

Supporting our 5th Grade Safeties
Dear Parents,
Our 5th grade students take great pride and ownership in their roles
as 5th Grade Safeties. Each month, on a rotation, students from our
fifth grade classrooms have the opportunity to serve as safeties to help
our walkers cross the roads safely both in the morning before school
and after school. We are continually revising our processes to help both
our walkers and our parents who are driving, to exit our parking lot
most safely and efficiently.
Starting this Monday, Oct. 26, we are going to be further refining our
process by adding two Yield signs and a white Yield Line-- to indicate
a safe stopping distance for cars so that safeties can allow children to
cross. Heres where we need your help: If you are walking your child
home, please follow the sidewalk and if you are driving your child home
after school, please take notice of the new Yield signs and yield if
students are present. This will provide a safe distance for our safeties to
allow students to cross.
Thank you for your support!

From the Gym
This month we are working on our soccer skills. Dribbling passing and shooting have been the main skills we focus on
while being mindful not to use our toes. The kids have done a great job translating these skills into play and have
improved throughout the unit. Our next subject will be nutrition. This will coincide with our PE cares food drive. Look for a
handout to come home with your students in the near future.
Next Tuesday, Oct. 27th is the Turkey Trot Fun Run. If your family missed the sign up deadline dont worry, you can still
sign up at the event the day of. Gates open at 4:30 and races begin at 5:00. In responding to parent concerns, there
will be a new pick up system for children after they finish their respective races. Please read about this in the packets
which were sent home Thursday. We are asking all participants to wear their Turkey trot shirt to school on Tuesday.
Please remember to send gym shoes every day. It is very confusing to remember which special your child has each day
and it will only get more difficult as we get into holiday breaks and snow days. Getting into that routine will help. 3,4,and
5th graders participation grades are dependent upon having their shoes.
Yours in Health,

Mr. Beimers
