Prince George Ski Club Club Coach Job Description

The Prince George Ski Club is inviting applications for a Club Coach for our
Alpine Program the 2015-16 season.
Based in Prince George, the Prince George Ski Club is a small but well
established U8 to FIS level ski club in North Central BC, with a history of
producing successful racers supported by a dedicated base of volunteers.
Prince George was the host community of the 2015 Canada Winter Games
which has resulted in significant equipment and facility legacies for our club
and include a first class training and race centre at Purden Mountain and a
world class snow cross track at Tabor Mountain.
As a Club Coach, the successful applicant will be expected to work full-time
from mid-November to mid-April, with the opportunity to start part-time in
early October. The successful candidate will be focused on the U14 program
but will assist with our U12 enhanced program as well as the U16 and U18/FIS
programs. The ideal candidate should be an enthusiastic team player and
be committed to creating environments that promote skill and athletic
development in exciting, fun, and productive settings. Good organizational
skills, combined with good parent/athlete communication skills are required.
A desire for continuous self-improvement via professional development is
necessary, as is a passion for bringing out the best in the athletes.
On-snow training for the club takes place primarily at Purden Mountain. Other
training centres include Tabor Mountain; Troll, located outside Quesnel; and
Powder King, approximately two hours north of Prince George. From January
to March night training is available inside the city limits at the Hart Highlands
Winter Club.
Job specifics:
The successful candidate will report to the PGSC Program Director and the
Club President of the PGSC.
Responsibilities include:
preparing a season plan for Alpine Program athletes, including a
schedule of races and on and off snow training;
implementing an early season dryland training program appropriate to
the age, skill, and development stage of athletes, according to NCCP
and AIM2WIN guidelines;
implementing a dryland training program during the competitive
season appropriate to the age, skill, and development stage of
athletes, according to NCCP and AIM2WIN guidelines;
On-snow coaching, including setting training environments according
to CSCF and AIM2WIN guidelines;
ensuring on-snow athlete safety, working with hill management and
other club coaches to ensure space is shared and used effectively;
traveling with athletes to camps and races;

care and maintenance for club equipment (including dryland supplies,


on-snow training tools, and the club van);
Regular communication with parents and club executive regarding
training plans, race schedules and athlete progress;
athlete evaluations, including a review of the athletes skiing,
equipment, and summer skiing and training plans;
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing coaching training and
education;
assisting the Program Director / Head Coach as required.

Qualifications:
minimum CSCF Entry Level certified/certified advanced, preference
given to applicants who are CSCF Development Level trained or
certified;
Class 5 drivers license with preference given to applicants with a Class
4 drivers licence;
NCCP Competitive Development A & B are preferred (or equivalent)
applicants with personal ski racing experience at a FIS level or higher
are preferred
