1. For someone working in your field, please describe the fantasies versus realities of the job.
(fantasy vs. reality)
The fantasy would be that it would all be easy and you wouldnt ever have much to do beside answer
emails and calls. But the reality is that you get yelled at everyday so, it doesnt always go as smoothly as youd
like it to. You cant make everyone happy
2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?

Um, I have an associates degree, yeah I went to school for two years. And well, I dont really have to do
any continuing education.

3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.

Here, at work? Okay, um, answer calls, make appointments, do referrals, fax papers, reminder calls,
reschedules.
4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?
(job security)
Oh, I dont even know. Maybe in the future there would be only one machine to do everything on because
I have to move around a lot!
5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?

Oh, they keep changing it up. But I think the starting salary is around $32,000-$44,000. They keep
lowering it, but its a wide range, it just depends on where you fit in.

6. What potential for growth is there in your field?

Yeah, there is some. I mean like I said before, they could always develop new technology to help make
things easier.

Why did you choose this particular setting compared to others available?
This setting was most convenient for me, and well they also paid more than a regular hospital would.

8. How long have you worked in the health care setting?


Well, I believe it has been about like, 5-6 years. I began as a hostess right after college and then decided I
should find a better job I can do for my degree.

9. Do you thoroughly enjoy what you do?


I mean, there is always something better to do, but I really like where I am at, at the moment, I enjoy it.

10. Is this the job youve always wanted to do?


Well, growing up I always wanted to be a dancer. But of course I saw the reality in that and decided I
wanted to do other things. But no, I didnt even know this job existed until my mom had told me about it.
