demonstratesmyabilitytoplanaUniversityDesignforLearning(UDL)
lesson.WhenplanningmyUDLlessonplan,Imadesuretomeetthe
requirementsofUDLprimaryprinciples.Theprimaryprinciplesof
UDLare:providingmultiplemeansofrepresentation,multiplemeansof
actionandexpression,andmultiplemeansofengagement.Thisartifact
demonstratesmasteryofInTASCStandard7:PlanningforInstruction.

PlanningforInstruction.WhenplanningmyUDLlessonplanIhadto
considerthepotentialbarrierswithinthemethodsofinstructionI
plannedtouseinordertomakesuremystudentsindividualneedswere
met.Forexample,wordproblemswerepresentedvisuallyandauditory
inorderforaspecificstudenttobeabletocomprehendtheword
problem.AnotherstudentwillbeprovidedwithaTobiiIEyeTracking
Communicationdevice,whichwillhelphertocommunicateand
participateduringthelesson.Lastly,instructionisprovidedthrough
explicitmodeling,guidedpractice,andindependentpracticeinorderto
increasestudentachievementoftheobtainedgoal.
My future students will be positively affected by my mastery of
InTASC Standard 7: Planning for Instruction because all my students
will be able to access the curriculum. WritingalessonthatisUniversally
DesignedforallLearnerswillmakessureallstudentsneedsarebeing
met.IfteachersstartedincorporatingthedifferentprinciplesofUDLin
theirinstructiontheywillnoticeanincreaseofpositiveengagementand
growthofcontentknowledgefromtheirstudents.Inconclusion,
applyingUDLproperlyintheclassroomwillhelptoclosethe
achievementgapandwillcatertoalldiverselearners.
