Genre: Realistic Fiction: A


realistic fiction is: a made up story,
includes realistic characters,
events, and settings, usually has
dialogue, and may include a
flashback to an earlier event.
Skill (Authors Purpose): Point
of View: Every story has a
narrator, or a person who tells the
story. The narrators point of view
tells how the narrator feels or
thinks about the characters or
events. When the narrator uses
pronouns such as he, she, or they,
the story has a third person
narrator.
Strategy: Visualize: When you
read fiction, picturing the events,
characters, and setting in your
mind to help you better understand
the story.
Vocabulary Strategy: Context
Clues: You can figure out the
meaning of an unfamiliar/unknown
word by using context clues within
the paragraph surrounding the
word.
