Individual rope- Jumping Skills Activity Lesson Plan

I. Introductory Activity (5 minutes)
Lesson Objectives/Equipment
Student need to be able to do the
basic bounce and have an
introduction to the basic jump
rope skills.
To teach students the freeze and
go signals that the teacher will be
using and to get the students to
move.
Equipment:

4 cones
6 colored vests
4 skill cards

Task/ Activity
Management
Students will be gather in a horse shoe.
Inform students about signals that will be
used throughout activity. When I say a
certain color students will reply with a
name of fruit or vegetable depending on
the color instructed. This will indicate
them to stop and then wait for the next
instruction. Students must wait until I say
"Go!" to begin moving.
Rabbit Tag The activity are is divided into
two sections. The first section is the "
tag/practice area" and the second are is the
" Jump rope Practice area." In the tagging
areas the players are to try and avoid the 6
designated taggers-orange and green.
They may only be safe for 10 jumps and
the taggers cannot guard. If a student is
tagged, he/ she goes to one of the jumping
areas where there are four skill cards by
each cone. The tagged students perform
10 jumps of on of the skills at the cone
that matches the color of the tagger who
tagged them.( skier, bell, straddle, jump
rope). After completing the ten practice
jumps the jumper re-enters the game.

II. Fitness Development ( 5-7 minutes)

Task/ Activity
Poly dots will be placed
around the perimeter of the
teaching area. Students will
be asked to perform
exercises around the area.
While the music is on
students will start moving
around the perimeter while
skipping, running, jogging,
walking briskly. When the
music stops, the students
must find the closest dot
near them before someone
else does. If student doesn't
find a dot she/ he will have to
go in the middle of the
teaching area and do the
exercise instructed. Everyone
else around the perimeter
will have to do the exercise
as well. Teacher will give
students about 15-20
seconds to do 5 reps. Music
will continue and student will
continue to play.

4. push-ups
