Crickets vs.

Light
TURNER 3.25 AS

Question
What color light are crickets attracted to?

Absract
lizards. The purpose of my experiment is to

find a easier way to get the crickets to my

lizards. My hypothesis was My problem is that
it is hard to get the crickets out of the cage
when it if time to feed my pet that the crickets
would be attracted to the green light because
it is the color of grass. The results were that
the crickets liked the red the best which
because they cant see the color red they
probably do not like light very much.

Hypothesis
If a green light is used in the experiment, then

the most crickets will come to that light

because that is the most natural color out of
all the LED lights I am using.

Materials
1. 1 Storage Bin
2. Cricket Food
3. Carrot Slices
4. Damp Paper Towel
5. 3 Cardboard Paper Towel Rolls
6. 3 LED Lights in Red, Green, Blue
7. Tape
8. 50 Crickets

Procedure
1. Tape each colored LED light facing into a cardboard paper

towel roll.
2. Put the LED light tubes in three of the corners of the bins
slanted up with the light at the top.

3. Put cricket food and carrot slices in the remaining corner.

4. Put damp paper towel in the middle.

5. Put 50 crickets in the bin.

6. Wait 1 hour.

7. Count the crickets in each cylinder and graph it.

8. Count the crickets left outside of the light tubes and

graph it.

9. Repeat 6 8 four more times.

10. Feed remaining crickets to lizards.

Variables
My independent variable is the lights.
My dependent variable is the amount of

crickets by the lights.

My control is the container or environment
that I put the crickets in and how many
crickets are in the container.

Pictures

Results: crickets

Conclusion
The crickets liked the red the best because, I

later did a little more research on crickets and

found that they could not see the color red
and I already knew that they dont light very
much because they are outside mostly at
night.
