Puzzle play with Khalid

Khalid, this morning you came over to see what Haneen and I were working on. You sat next
to me and you carefully observed how we played the animal puzzle game. We would make
the sound of the animals and do a little body gesture of what the animal does. For example,
with the frog, we say ribbit ribbit and we try to jump like a frog.
A while later, Haneen finished her turn at the puzzle and when asking you if you would like
to have a turn, you said yes with a big smile. We had a few puzzles laid out and you used
your right hand to take the animal puzzle Haneen was working on before. You started taking
pieces of puzzle out and you tried to fit them into its corresponding board cutouts. I described
to you about the different animals, what sound it make, how it moves and what it feels like.
You had a great big smile on your face upon completing the puzzle, well done Khalid!
Khalid, you displayed an interest in puzzles. You showed great problem solving skill as
you learn to turn puzzle pieces until they fit. You were being exposed to language
around this process and you were also recognising the different animals in our
environment. You showed great focus, engagement and perseverance to reach your goal.
Well done, Khalid. Khalid, perhaps next time we could explore different puzzles to
develop and extend your problem solving skills.
