Recommendation Letter

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this Recommendation Letter at the request of Olivia Maheia who is
applying as a student to the school of her choice. She has asked me to write this
general letter which she may show to any prospective colleges that will accept her
application.
I have known Olivia Maheia as a student in my English courses and as coach for the
slam poetry team since the 11th grade as her high school teacher at Foshay Learning
Center. She earned grades of As and Bs in these courses. Based on her grades, along
with her good attendance and class participation, I'd rate Olivias overall performance
in my classes as a B. She has a number of strengths to offer your college.
Olivia is one of the most determined and reliable students that I have met. Last year,
our school poetry team was slowly falling apart. Many of the students got cold feet or
were completely unprepared a few weeks before the major competition. However,
Olivia served as an anchor for the struggling team. She was early to every practice
and she was always prepared. Due to her exemplary show of commitment and heart,
we were able to train a team that we were proud to represent Foshay at the slam
competition. These attributes will serve Olivia well in college and beyond.
I would highly recommend Olivia. If her performance in my classes is any indication
of how she would perform at your college, Olivia will be a positive addition to your
college. Her qualities as a student are always up for grabs and she would be a great
applicant for your college.

Sincerely yours,
Patrick ODonnell,
High School English and Journalism Educator
