Students have been completing NWEA math and reading tests this
week and will be finished testing by next Friday. These tests are given
to students three times per year. The results tell us exactly where your
student is in their learning relative to their peers in the same grade
across the state and country. This is extremely valuable data for us to
have because it informs our teachers of how best to plan to meet the
learning needs of our students.
You will receive an NWEA report showing your child's scores and
progress right after we return from break, along with directions on
how you can seek any information or clarification you may need.
ISTEP+ parent letters were also sent to you earlier in the semester. If
you have not yet accessed your child's ISTEP+ scores and/or need
assistance accessing this information please contact our office.
It is very important that your child be actively aware of their own
progress and scores on these important tests. While teachers meet
with students to review and discuss these test results, it is also a great
practice to set aside a brief time to talk with your child about their
test results and ask them about their learning. Our counselors can also
help with any questions you may have about how to interpret and talk
about test scores with your child.
If you have any question about these tests, please do not hesitate to
contact us.
Have a great holiday!
