As!this!is!our!last!newsletter!for!the!year!I!would!like!to!acknowledge!a!number!of!
outgoing!staff!and!thank!them!for!their!contribution!to!our!school.!As!you!know!Michael!
Williams!is!retiring!after!33.5!years!service!at!St!Albans!School;!we!have!enjoyed!holding!a!
staff!farewell!and!community!farewell!for!him.!Ileea!Stace!has!worked!with!us!as!a!teacher!
aide!supporting!many!students!across!the!school.!Brooke!Young!started!her!teaching!
career!in!Pod!8!working!within!Team!Star!this!term!and!has!been!a!wonderful!addition!to!
the!team.!I!wish!all!outgoing!staff!the!very!best!for!their!next!steps!in!life.!

Our!school!is!moving!towards!an!ICT!solution!known!as!BYOD!next!year!for!Year!5!
and!6!students.!We!are!encouraging!students!to!bring!along!their!own!wireless!

Early!in!the!new!year!we!will!hold!an!information!evening!outlining!plans!for!our!
BYOD!launch.!This!will!focus!on!security,!and!most!importantly!
how!tools!will!be!used!to!improve!learning!outcomes.!

St!Albans!School!is!part!of!Te!Khui!Cluster!along!with!other!
local!schools!including!Heaton!Intermediate.!They!too!are!
launching!BYOD!in!2016!meaning!that!our!students!will!be!able!
to!continue!using!their!devices!in!Year!7!and!8!too.!

Message!from!the!Board!of!Trustees!
Farewell!to!Jane!Coultas!
The!board!would!like!to!acknowledge!and!thank!Jane!Coultas!for!her!contribution!to!the!
school.!At!the!board!meeting!on!Monday!night!Jane!Coultas!stepped!down!after!two!and!a!
half!terms!as!a!St!Albans!Board!member.!Jane!has!been!a!valued!member!of!the!Board,!
her!dedication!to!St!Albans!as!a!parent,!deputy!chair,!board!member!and!past!pupil!is!truly!
appreciated.!!Janes!main!Board!roles!were!finance!and!property!and!her!knowledge!and!
passion!for!the!school!will!be!missed.!Jane!was!also!a!past!Chair!and!Treasurer!of!the!PTA!
and!we!thank!you!Jane!for!the!many!hours!you!have!contributed!to!our!school!
community.!
