How I go about planning for instruction:

I ask myself a few questions such as :.

What is the GOAL?

What is the THEME?
What do students already KNOW?
What do they want to LEARN?
What is the MATERIAL NEEDED?
Is the lesson LEVEL APPROPRIATE for ALL?

I keep in mind that I want instruction to be .

CREATIVE
FUN
ATTENTION CAPTIVATING

Different resources I will consult:

Pinterest and various online resources

Library
Journals
Articles
Online Data bases such as ERIC
Class notes
Peer recommendations

Another factor that comes into play is the environment in

which your students are learning. I believe that it is important to
take the time to organize your classroom environment in a way to
create a safe, enjoyable place for learning. This not only includes
the physical space of the classroom, but also making sure that
your students are comfortable to openly share their opinions and
ask their questions. The spider web below includes a few key
points I believe are key for a rich learning environment.

Lastly, if I had to pick the most important aspect of lesson

planning, it would have to be the goal of the lesson. What do I
want the students to learn? What is the objective? From this I can take
a backwards design approach to my lesson planning. This includes
the following steps:
1. Establishing goals
2. Identifying big ideas/concepts/understanding
3. Determining the essential questions/What provocative
questions will prompt my students learning?
4. Identifying the way the students will be successful/Getting
to know my students learning.
