Create a WAVE-linked sketch

This example shows how to create a WAVE-linked sketch. You are going to use the sketch to create
an associative feature to eliminate overhang on the locator block indicated by the arrow.

1.

In the Assembly Navigator, right-click the component you want to have own the linked
geometry and choose Make Work Part.

On the Assemblies toolbar, click WAVE Geometry Linker


InsertAssociative CopyWAVE Geometry Linker.

In the WAVE Geometry Linker dialog box, from the Type list, select Sketch

In the graphics window select the sketch along the top edge of the parent part cutout.

In the Settings group, ensure that the Associative check box is selected.

(Optional) In the Settings group, clear the Hide Original check box to retain the source
geometry in the graphics window display.

(Optional) In the Settings group, select the Use Display Properties of Parent Part check
box to retain the display properties of the parent part.

Click OK.
Extrude the sketch and subtract it from the locator to create the trim. Any edits made to
the original sketch feature update the locator.
