Unit Objectives

Investigate how the extremes of East Asias physical geography has affected its
populations
Examine the relationship between geography, culture, and economic development

Unit Literacy Objective

Students will be able to take their essay outline and turn it into a five paragraph essay

Lesson 1: What makes the Chinese in the north different than those in the south?
Standards:

WG-2.1 Explain the ways in which Earths physical systems and processes are dynamic
and interactive
WG-8.2 Compare how human modification of the physical environment varies from one
region to another and may require different human responses

Objectives:

Explore the geographic features, climate, and resources of China


Identify the different lifestyles of the Chinese people due to their geographic location in
the country

Assessment: Create a Venn diagram that identifies the differences in lifestyles of the north and
the south and explain these differences using information about their geography.
