DRILLING

OIL EXTRACTION AND RECOVERY

Primary Recovery

The oil spontaneously is drawn up the drill pipe without any

excessive force applied.

This is due to the reservoir pressure

Does not last forever

Secondary Recovery

Employs water and gas injection, displacing the oil and driving it
to the surface.

About 40% to 50% oil can be extracted.
