Homework
IXL Math Remember to practice IXL at home. The 3 top IXL kids for can have lunch in the
classroom one day. IXL math skills to practice at home are listed on the January homework
calendar.
RAH - Remember your child should read every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Thursday night as a part of homework. I ask each child to read one book each night, but
many of them want to read more!!
Sight Words- Practice the pink sight word list that I sent home in October for homework
practice. When you child can read all the words instantly in 3 seconds of less, send back the
pink list for a new list of sight words to practice. Let me know if your child needs a new list.
Things have gotten a bit scattered during my absence.

Curriculum News
Math Fractions Students will learn about halves, fourths/quarters of a whole.
Reading- Students will read non-fiction and review use of text features including: table of contents, headings, picture captions,
labels, glossary, index, and bold print words. Students will learn to ask questions and locate answers in non-fiction text, main idea
and details, as well as research skills.
Writing Students will write informational reports.

Ami Phines (Fines), an intern from the University of North Georgia of will be student teaching in our class through April. She is
excellent and I look forward to working with her.
I am so happy to be back at school. My recovery went very well and I feel good. Unfortunately I have been summoned for jury duty
the week of January 11-15. Randy Edmonds will be my substitute and Mrs. Phines will be here as well. I am hoping that I will not be
there all week. Be sure and e-mail the office with transportation changes at mercedes.rebollar@hallco.org in case I am not at school
next week to check e-mail.
